Giving the recent
state of the Nigeria’s economy, many are tempted to simply enter into business
after their secondary school education. And believe you me, everyone has freedom
of choice.
However, if you
are told to choose between a college and or to start a business, here are some the
things you have you should consider before making a decision the decision.
1. New skills:
The ability to grow, expand and learn will be greatly influenced by a tertiary education. And training your mind, you will develop new many skills, highly transferable, including how to work together, how to deliver an effective presentation, and how to communicate well with others. This might not be available in a business in which you are stuck with a set of skills.

2. Great Experiences:
The college experience is one you will treasure and learn. There will be great moments and sad moments, but you will be happy joining in. Community life and development of a great social life, are part of the college experiences. When not studying bow down your hair down and have fun!

3. Better Job Prospects:
It is true that the labour market is a difficult course to play. And having a degree does not mean that getting a gainful job is an easy ride, but more options are open to you.

When you compare
this with 27% of people who are unemployed after leaving school in the past six
years without higher education, you know which group you'd rather be!
4. More Money:
Many young people look for quick and easy money, that is why they would prefer going into business as oppose to spending 4-6 years in a university. However, the truth is that over time, you will make more money. There are after school training programs that allow acceleration your career and this acceleration will continue. Working at a higher level will mean a higher level that will just get better and better by the day. It's just a matter of time.

5. You can do both:
You should never be drawn into the trap, you must choose between them. It is possible to obtain a higher education, while running a good business. Many have done so with great success. So all you have to ask yourself is: Do I have the discipline and focus that is needed? It can be grown for either way, you'll need these qualities later in life.
